QUOTE DTM regulations for 2010 fixed
In the DTM regulations for the year 2010, the focus is even more on costs. This has been decided by the DMSB (Deutscher Motor Sport Bund e.V.) in accordance with Audi and Mercedes-Benz, the manufacturers participating in the DTM. The main point: the teams are to race with equipment that is largely identical with that of the 2009 season. There will be no elaborate development. To achieve this, the majority of the car components will be fixed, like it is the case already for the current year-old cars in the DTM. Especially aerodynamic parts, safety cell and cage, wheel arms, steering system and engine can not be modified any further. The development stop for performance-relevant parts will come into force on August 17th. Right after the DTM round at the Nürburgring, the participating manufacturers will hand over reference parts to the DMSB which will be photographed in detail and documented in order to form the right basis for technical inspections. “We have compiled the content of the 2010 DTM regulations in a close co-operation with the persons in charge at Audi and Mercedes-Benz and experienced a very professional approach”, says DMSB-chairman Torsten Johne about the co-operation with the manufacturers involved in the DTM. “I am certain that, with the significant limitation of the technical development for the 2010 season, we have made exactly the right step. Thus, we facilitate sport at the highest level, but on the other hand, we are keeping an eye firmly on the costs.” -------------------- Med venlig hilsen

Det lyder som en rigtig god ide, men hver gang man indsnævrer udviklingsvinduet, så øger man omkostningerne eksponentielt. Og det har man endnu ikke løst.

Lidt spændende nyt for Asse & Co.
QUOTE BMW hints at DTM comeback
BMW has been linked with a switch to the DTM after high-ranking staff indicated that its future touring car activity will not necessarily be in the World Touring Car Championship. Following the German manufacturer's announcement that it is to withdraw from Formula 1 at the end of this season, this week's AUTOSPORT magazine reports that the company is seeking alternatives to the WTCC, of which it has been openly critical throughout this year. BMW board member Klaus Draeger said: "We have deliberately spoken about an involvement in touring cars in the broader sense." The company's motorsport director, Mario Theissen, added: "WTCC is part of the touring car spectrum. It is no secret that we aren't particularly happy about the developments last year and this year, but no decision has been made. "In any case, we will be present in touring car racing, both with works-supported programmes and in customer competition. We could also imagine other future projects, which we are not ready to talk about yet." The DTM is seeking to attract a third manufacturer to join Mercedes and Audi, and the series last week announced a freeze on development into 2010 ahead of the introduction of a new set of technical regulations for the 2011 season. Mercedes driver and joint championship leader Gary Paffett has said he would welcome the addition of BMW to the DTM. Talking about the possible arrival of BMW in the series in his exclusive AUTOSPORT column, Paffett said: "To have the big three German manufacturers in the series would be awesome. Everyone agrees that we need a third manufacturer and it would be great for the championship if it happens." -------------------- JohnPlayer

QUOTE Contract signed: DTM finale at Shanghai on November 28th
Klettwitz. The season finale of this year’s DTM will be held in China on November 28th. This has been agreed prior to the third round of the 2010 DTM season at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz by DTM rights holder ITR e.V. and the Chinese promoter Brilliant Culture Group (BCG). ITR chairman Hans Werner Aufrecht and Maggie Ip, managing director of BCG, announced the signing of the contract during a press conference on Saturday morning. The finale of the most popular international touring car series will be taking place in the heart of Shanghai in the Pudong district. Preparations at the track will start immediately after the EXPO 2010 which will close its doors on October 31st. The track will have a length of 3.1 kilometres and includes nine corners. After the invitational race in 2004, this will be the second time for the DTM to race in the metropolis of Shanghai with its 19 million inhabitants. Hans Werner Aufrecht (chairman ITR e.V.): “We are really happy about the signing of the contract with BCG. For us, the reason for having a race in China is obvious: it is one of the most important markets for our manufacturers Audi and Mercedes-Benz.” Maggie Ip (Managing Director BCG): “The Chinese government is investing a lot of money in the development of cities. Therefore, it was important for us to bring the best race series to China. The race will be held in the heart of the city.” Audi motorsport director Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich: “For Audi, China is the world’s most important market. Together with the organisers, the promoter and the fans, we are looking forward to a great event.” Mercedes-Benz motorsport director Norbert Haug: “I have fond memories of the great DTM premiere in 2004. It was the first-ever race in the city of Shanghai. I would be really happy when we would be able to repeat the victory we scored there six years ago. For Mercedes-Benz, China is the world’s third largest market and therefore tremendously important.” Christian Schacht (secretary general and head of automobile sports DMSB): “Planning and organising such an overseas’ event is obviously not easy. It takes far more than just putting the cars into a plane. In July, we will fly to Shanghai and inspect the situation on site in order to work out the details.” The 2010 DTM calendar at a glance:25th April Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg (D) 23th May Valencia (E) 06th June EuroSpeedway Lausitz (D) 04th July Norisring (D) 08th August Nürburgring (D) 22nd August Circuit Park Zandvoort (NL) 05th September Brands Hatch (GB) 19th September Oschersleben (D) 17th October Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg (D) 28th November Shanghai (CN) -------------------- Med venlig hilsen

Sejr til Bruno Spengler på Eurospeedway. Den sejr har jeg ventet på i næsten to år.

Så kommer der lige en 11. afdeling af DTM i år.
QUOTE Adria International Raceway added to 2010 DTM calendar
Wiesbaden. In 2010, the DTM will be racing in Italy as well. The most popular international touring car series has extended its existing calendar by one round and will have a race at the Adria International Raceway on October 31st, 2010. The race at the modern facility near Venice will be the tenth of eleven rounds in the 2010 DTM season. Four weeks later, November 28th, the DTM season finale will be taking place on the street circuit in the Chinese metropolis of Shanghai. This year’s race is not the first DTM event at Adria. In 2003 and 2004 already, DTM races were held at the Adria International Raceway. In the inaugural year, victory went to Dutch driver Christijan Albers (Mercedes-Benz). In 2004, eventual champion Mattias Ekström (Audi) managed to win the race at the compact circuit. The Adria International Raceway was opened in 2002. A special feature is the indoor paddock: in a giant-sized hall, the race transporters can be parked directly behind the pit boxes. With four corners per kilometre, the Italian circuit is the most curvaceous track on the current DTM calendar. The 2.702 kilometres short track combines tight chicanes with 180-degree hairpins. Every lap, the programme for the drivers is: hard braking, finding the optimal turning point and accelerate quickly. Five of the current DTM drivers already know the Italian circuits from 2003 and 2004: Mercedes-Benz driver Gary Paffett and Audi drivers Mattias Ekström, Timo Scheider, Martin Tomczyk and Markus Winkelhock. “The hairpins are the most significant points at the track. Here, you have to find the best braking point and then carry as much speed as possible onto the straights”, recalls Martin Tomczyk, who finished eighth in the race in 2004. The 2010 DTM calendar at a glance: 25th April Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg (D) 23rs May Valencia (E) 06th June EuroSpeedway Lausitz (D) 04th July Norisring (D) 08th August Nürburgring (D) 22th August Circuit Park Zandvoort (NL) 05th September Brands Hatch (GB) 19th September Oschersleben (D) 17th October Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg (D) 31st October Adria Raceway (I) 28th November Shanghai (CN) -------------------- Med venlig hilsen
